What is the campus like at Spalding Academy?

Spalding Academy comprises of three large city blocks. Our main building is four stories high with classrooms on each floor. We have a connected four-story building called the Dominican Center to the west of our main building. We have classrooms on the top floor of this building. We also have a gymnasium connected to our school. Our second block is a playground and large track/practice field. Our third block is St. Michaels Church.

Where are classes held at Spalding Academy?

Spalding Academy offers classes in the main building, the Dominican Center, and the gymnasium.  We also offered college classes through regular classroom time in conjunction with CCC.

What College Classes are offered?

Spalding Academy offers college through Central Community College out of Columbus to Juniors and Seniors who qualify to take particular college classes.  Students can earn college credits by simply completing these courses with a passing grade.

Is tutoring available at Spalding Academy?

Yes.  During the school day, students are allowed to go to individual teachers to receive tutoring.  On Monday and Wednesday after school, a Math tutoring session is offered by our Math Club for anyone interested.

Are there scholarships available at Spalding Academy?

Yes – a scholarship is available to an 8th grade graduating student based on academic achievement.  Other scholarships are available to any student by completing a scholarship application based on income and need.

Is there financial aid available at Spalding Academy?

Yes. Spalding Academy is committed to providing financial assistance to qualified students whose families cannot afford the schools full charges. We work with each family individually to determine an appropriate amount of aid to provide.

Do you have to be Catholic to attend Spalding Academy?

No. Spalding Academy is a Catholic school, and students will be exposed to Catholic ideas and teachings. However, students do not need to be Catholic or Christian to attend.   All students will take theology classes, and school Masses will take place weekly.

When do students apply to Spalding Academy?

Students can begin the application process in the winter of the school year. First consideration for acceptance is given to students who have a complete application file.

What does the application process look like?

To ensure the admission of highly qualified students, Spalding Academy has a rather comprehensive application process. The application includes a general application form, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, a personal essay and an interview. A photo of the student is also needed.

How are students accepted into Spalding Academy?

Once a student has submitted a complete application file, the Admissions Committee will meet to determine if the student will be a good fit at Spalding Academy. The Admissions Committee is made up of Spalding Academy Principal, St. Michaels Pastor, a Guidance Counselor, and the Director of Admissions. Once the decision is made, the Director of Admissions will notify the family.
